With an ownership model that embraces both private capital blending with high-profile backers, the NTL has attracted an illustrious mixture of notable individuals to the ownership stables, from the likes of two-time NFL MVP and Maryland Colts lead owner Lamar Jackson, to other high profile athletes and entertainers such as: hip-hop icon Nelly (St. Louis Nellies), basketball legend, Julius “Dr. J” Erving (Philadelphia Stallions), Country Music Hall of Fame artist, Tanya Tucker (Nashville Studs), and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and member of A Tribe Called Quest, Jarobi White (Miami Thunderbolts).

In the same spirit, Monroe announced today that he is working with marketing icons and NTL shareholders Ryan Detert and Chris Detert to bring in investors from the entertainment and social media ecosystem, beginning with Madi Monroe (California Shamrocks) and Adam W (New York Knights).

Monroe, who served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Penske Media Corporation and Chief Marketing Officer of Sundance Institute/ Sundance Film Festival, brings a career spanning senior business-side leadership roles across Forbes, The Atlantic and Conde Nast, and comes to the NTL with deep expertise in executing experiential content, developing impactful brand partnerships, and elevating digital and social engagements that drive audience growth. Prior to joining the NTL, Mike had spent the past four years in the financial sector with Intrepid (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group) as Managing Director.

This comes as the league is readying to share more exciting updates about welcoming in new financial partners and introduce new team ownership groups with additional influential figures across sports and culture, as well as announce its official schedule for the 2026 season, which will kick off at Laurel Park Racecourse in Maryland on Saturday May 2nd with another community event featuring Lamar Jackson.

“The National Thoroughbred League is continuing to resonate across industry, entertainment and investment circles as we demonstrate how our unique model is unlocking new energy, audiences, and commercial opportunity around this iconic sport,” said Randall Lane, Co-Founder of the National Thoroughbred League. “Mike is the right leader for our next chapter, and we’re thrilled to bring his experience into the fold as we accelerate our growth in 2026.”

“The NTL has a rare opportunity to build a category-defining brand by putting a refreshed take on one of the world’s most enduring sports,” said Mike Monroe, CEO of the National Thoroughbred League. “The league’s events deliver what people are craving: the drama of the race, the thrill of wagering, world-class brands and fashion, and real experiences with friends and family. I couldn’t be more excited about the enormous potential, on and off the track, to build a modern league at the intersection of sport, culture, and entertainment."

Madi Monroe added: “I partnered with NTL because they are delivering everything I love about an event: real drama on the track, great style, and being there with your people. I’m excited to be part of what they’re building and to bring new fans along for the ride.”
