Scientology Block Party Pulls Out All Stops

The Church of Scientology pulled off the impossible — church staff somehow made the July 14, 2018, Downtown Clearwater Block Party even more fun than the ones held before.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - July 17, 2018 - (Newswire.com)

More than 2,000 guests joined the Church of Scientology July 14 for their Downtown Clearwater Summer Block Party. There was live music, great food, clowns, a stilt walker, carnival-style games, face painting, a caricature artist, a reptile petting zoo and a child-sized train excursion through the neighborhood.

The Church of Scientology Flag Band with guest singers Stacey Francis, Taylor Pace and Palmer Dernehl performed a wide array of music, keeping crowds dancing throughout the event.

Free food vouchers, handed out as people entered the party, meant everyone could enjoy the pizza, sushi, tacos, ice cream, cotton candy and other delicious treats — and it was all on the house. They were also invited to take their chance at the raffle with a grand prize — a $500 VISA gift card.

The summer block party was organized in celebration of the third anniversary of the opening of the Clearwater Scientology Information Center and six humanitarian centers: The Scientology Volunteer Ministers Center, Foundation for a Drug-Free World FloridaCitizens Commission on Human Rights Florida, United for Human Rights Florida, The Way to Happiness Foundation and Criminon Florida.

The centers were opened July 15, 2015, in Clearwater, the city that has served as the church’s spiritual headquarters for more than 40 years. They were dedicated by Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige to provide unconditional help to the people of Clearwater as “community support for effective action and a better world.”

The seven centers were open all afternoon and evening for visits throughout the party, with staff on hand to answer questions and brief guests on the programs.

Fifteen additional nonprofit organizations were invited to set up stands where visitors could learn about their programs: Caregiver's Helping Hand, Civilian Conservation Corp, Clearwater Community GardensGreater Tampa Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, East Coast Golden Age Theater, Global Community TennisScubanautsThomas Promise FoundationCommunity Learning CenterRays of Hope OutreachGuardian Ad LitemLifelink, Holistic Coaching, Folklorico Mahetzi and Narconon Suncoast.

The church held its first Downtown Clearwater Block Party in July 2016 to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of these centers. They now hold them quarterly, with each one surpassing the previous parties for music, great food and fun for the entire family.
