More Canadians Over 65 Than Under 15 For The First Time

For the first time ever, there are now more people in Canada age 65 and over than there are under age 15, according to Statistics Canada.

Much of growth came in the form of people coming from other countries, as migration accounted for 60.8 per cent of the population growth. The rest was natural population growth, as people already in Canada had children. That pace of growth has increased every year since 2011, the data agency said.

But by international standards, Canada's population of 65-and-overs is still relatively small, and lower than any other G7 nation. In Japan, for example, 26 per cent of the population is over age 64.

And as Canada’s population grows older there is also a surge in the number of Canadians looking to reverse or halt the signs of aging. If current population trends continue, Statistics Canada estimates that seniors will outnumber children in Canada by a factor of three to two in 20 years' time.

Whether you suffer from sun spots, scars, dull or uneven skin tone, or wrinkles,  revolutionary technologies now exist to get the job done. The best known of these is Botox®, a non-surgical cosmetic procedure to smooth the deep, persistent facial lines which result from muscle activity. Botox® is a cosmetic treatment, involving a series of tiny injections which provide you with a rejuvenated look by smoothing frown lines, crow’s feet, lines between the eyebrows, worry lines around the mouth, horizontal lines across the forehead, and lines on the neck.

Another headline-grabbing procedure is PRP, (Platelet-Rich Plasma) also known as the Vampire facelift!

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Facelift uses components from your blood to revive skin and diminish the appearance of multiple skin issues. This proven method doesn’t involve surgery, chemicals, or toxins and also has applications in oral and neurosurgery.  A small blood sample is taken from the person being treated and put into a centrifuge or other specialised device that spins at high speed. This process separates platelets from other blood components. The concentration of platelets is then injected into the area of the person's body that needs to be treated.

A less well-known skin treatment procedure is CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing. It’s one of the very latest techniques to treat deeper wrinkles, more severe textural changes from sun damage, blotchiness, acne scars, and surgical or traumatic scars. It can be used on the delicate eyelid skin and around the mouth.

With so many treatments available it’s essential to choose the most suitable and effective one for you. Canada MedLaser Clinics offer an array of treatments to fight against wrinkles and fine lines which result from aging. They include all the above, plus cosmetic injections, Laser and Infrared treatments, chemical peels, micro needle and Photofacial treatments.
