Brian Marsella Named Cigna Market President for Midwest Health Plans

Cigna (NYSE:CI) has named Brian Marsella as market president for its health care and related benefits plans in the Midwest market, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota. Marsella is based in Chicago.

As market president, Marsella’s responsibilities include driving growth by creating customer value and ensuring that Cigna's Go Deep strategic operating plans, products and network offerings meet evolving client and customer needs. He will lead the team in working with area health care professionals, health systems, legislators, employers, brokers and community partners to deliver state of the art, consultative, affordable solutions to help improve Midwest customer and community health.

With over 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Brian most recently served as Partner, Health & Benefits, at Mercer in Chicago. He previously held leadership roles at Aetna, and rejoins Cigna after beginning his career with the company in 1992.

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, Brian earned an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In the local community, he is Chairman, of the Board of Directors for Erie Family Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center focused on providing primary care to low income individuals, predominantly in the Latino population of Chicagoland area.
