Less Than Two Weeks Left to Nominate High School Students for $25,000 College Scholarship From Sallie Mae

Attention school counselors and community leaders: the deadline to submit nominations for Sallie Mae’s $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship is quickly approaching. High school counselors and community leaders have until Sept. 26 to nominate high school juniors and seniors who exemplify excellence inside or outside the classroom.

The ideal candidate should be a student who excels in academics, athletics, community service, or school activities, but whose financial circumstances may not permit him or her to pursue a college education. The simple nomination process requires two, 200-word essays that highlight contributions inside and outside the classroom and any issues that may prevent a student from attending college.

“The Bridging the Dream Scholarship exemplifies, in name and intent, Sallie Mae’s commitment to help students and families make college happen,” said Martha Holler, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. “Last year’s recipients were truly remarkable, and thanks to counselors and community leaders throughout this country, we were able to help them make their college dream come true. So, don’t delay, nominate your deserving high school junior or senior today!”

Last year’s Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program recipients, nominated by school counselors or leaders of their local community were: Joe Bell of Gladstone, Missouri; Simone Dobosh of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania; Essence Duplechain of Houston, Texas; Jenna Frezza of Hammond, Indiana; Thanh Le of West Valley City, Utah; Ardavia Lee of New Castle, Delaware; and Doug Sullivan of Saraland, Alabama.
