Games for Physicians and Nurses to get CME and CNE credit

BreakAway Games announces new continuing education credits awarded for playing games and simulations.

HUNT VALLEY, MD, January 17, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- BreakAway Games today announced a new partnership with The Foundation for Care Management (FCM) to offer Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit to physicians and nurses (CNE) who successfully complete games and simulations on the vHealthCareTM portal.

"The vHealthCare Portal has been providing healthcare professionals opportunities to acquire new skills and refresh knowledge by using virtual simulations that mimic real life situations. Different than traditional testing methods, simulations as games test a providers ability to think quickly and handle multiple cases similar to real life scenarios." BreakAway CEO Douglas Whatley said. "We are excited that using these tools now qualify for continuing education credits."

These programs have been approved in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through a joint-providership with the Foundation for Care Management (FCM) and BreakAway, Ltd.. FCM is accredited by the ACCME to provide Continuing Education credits. Each simulation is approved for 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME™.

The program has also been approved for CNE credits through this joint-providership agreement. Foundation for Care Management is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Successful completion of each simulation of work is worth 0.5 Nursing Contact Hours.

The first simulations on the vHealthCare Portal to be accredited are the vHealthCare Pediatric Advanced Life Support cases. The vHealthCare Portal has over 100 simulations and games and throughout the next year we plan to expand the number of games and simulations that are approved for credit.

Physicians, Nurses and Students can all join the vHealthCare Portal to use the games and sims at www.vHealthCare.us. The membership subscription for complete access to the portal is $10 per month.

The vHealthCare Portal mission is to collaborate with healthcare and learning experts to design, develop and supply simulation based educational materials to healthcare professionals, globally. We see the relationship with FCM as an opportunity to broaden the use of interactive simulation technologies for both continuing education and credentialing programs worldwide.
