Summer, a Emotional Support Dog, Will Die and Her Owner (a College Student) Will be Lost if CarProperty.com Can't Help Them Get the Ongoing Life Long Support Needed to Keep Her Alive - You Can Help

Addison's Disease recently brought this 3 year old Aussie Doodle to her death bed and now she needs lifelong veterinary care at a cost Summer's owner cannot afford. Racked with crippling student debt, this Univ. of Oregon, Law Student has a plan.

EUGENE, OR, June 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A few days ago, Christina Cross who is the University of Oregon law student, and owner of Summer, realized that Summer's lethargic attitude and unwillingness to eat or drink lately had turned into a medical emergency. She had to drive her about 40 miles to the only open 24 hour - 7 day per week vet hospital around (Willamette Veterinary Hospital in Corvallis) to try to save Summer's life.

By the time Summer was seen and evaluated by the doctors she was very sick and could have died had she been untreated. After several hours of tests and observation, the veterinary doctor at the hospital did not have very good news for Cross. Summer was diagnosed with Addison's Disease and needed to be hospitalized for at least 48 hours. The cost just for the hospitalization was in the thousands of dollars, with projected ongoing monthly medical costs into the low to mid hundreds of dollars per month.

With all of the emotions of thinking her beloved Summer would die without be admitted to the Vet Hospital; but with just a few dollars to her name, this hard working college student with crushing student loans and no income, made the easy decision to have Summer treated and saved. The pressure this situation presented at that time was more than a lot of people could bear. It was coming down to an impossible financial decision, but Cross didn't hesitate to get her admitted. However the hospital required a $1,500 down payment just to begin rehydrating Summer so she wouldn't die from just be dehydrated.

Cross was able to cobble together the $1,500 from friends and family via a text that was a desperate plea for help. Answering peoples questions, sadness and shock took a few more hours to accomplish, meanwhile Summer just sat in the Vet Hospital not being treated until that hospital received notice of their $1,500 down payment and that it was secured by them. Cross' family are not wealthy; nor are they people who share their financial difficulties with each other in that circle, but in this case the situation was too much to bear and several people close to Cross dug deep into their stretched pockets to try to save Summer from dying. The $1,500 down payment was raised.

Summer would die without Thousands of Dollars. Broke and with crushing student debt, this hard working college student set up a GoFundMe Page to get funds. Asking for help this way is not something that Cross ever felt she would do. But with the thousands of dollars potentially due to the Vet Hospital before they would release her and the future of hundreds of dollars of monthly vet bill costs, Cross swallowed her pride and got the fund raiser up and running because otherwise it would be impossible to support her beloved Summer through her lifelong disease.

CarProperty.com is donating to this cause and we are doing what we can to help get the word out to car enthusiasts; Car Property real estate and business owners that use CarProperty.com and everyone else who feels the pull of their heart strings. We will donate anonymously.

Complications arose at the Vet Hospital and extra treatment was needed to just stabilize Summer. Again, Cross did not hesitate to approve the extra cost of the treatment that Summer needed.

What is the status of Summer now and how did she do at the Vet Hospital? Summer's GoFundMe Page has her status updates and they are being kept current by Cross.

Background on Summer from original GoFundMe Post:

Hi Everyone,

If you know me, then you know my best friend Summer. She is my 3yo baby aka Aussiedoodle. Summer is the cuddliest, friendliest dog around and is in need of some help.

Summer has had mysterious symptoms throughout her life and this weekend she is fighting to live. I'm raising funds to cover Summer's hospital stay and a month of follow-up treatment. My happy, sweet baby has been diagnosed with Addison's Disease, which will require lifelong care. Currently she is at the state where her body had begun to shut down and so the vet is working to stabilize her. After stabilization Summer will be on a daily medication and require monthly vet appointments and special injections to stay alive. If given the proper medical care, she will live a normal life.

My Plea: If you know me, you know that Summer is my everything. Summer is my emotional support animal. Most people aren't aware of this, but at 17 I was sexually assaulted by a male 40ish medical professional who was both my coworker and my physical therapist. That assault has left me with pretty significant PTSD. The legal case, where I'm known as Jane Doe, was spread out over years long processes and almost broke me. During one of my toughest times, towards the end of the case, is when I got Summer. She is my reminder that things can get better and my love on days where it's hard to feel any, and my safety when I'm scared. I can't loose her.

If you have anything to spare, please help. If you can share this page, please share it.

Thank you,
Christina (Summer's human mom)

P.S. If I could afford this, I absolutely would not be asking for help

P.P.S. Any amount raised over what is needed for her hospital stay will go straight to the vet to pay for her lifelong monthly tests and injections.
