On March 17, 2005, Pioneer Natural Resources Company (the "Company") issued
a news release that is attached hereto as exhibit 99.1. In the news release, the
Company announced that it was the apparent high bidder on 13 blocks in the
deepwater Gulf of Mexico for a net investment of approximately $7.5 million.
