Author Donald Blosser’s book “The Good News According to Jesus” takes readers into an inspiring, engaging take on Jesus’ death and resurrection

While the death of Jesus Christ is at the very core of the Christian faith, author Donald Blosser takes the discourse further to dissect that popular belief, providing a striking contrast that would challenge while at the same time inspire readers.

While the events leading up to the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ have been well-detailed by Gospel writers, author Donald Blosser takes a richer and more relevant explanation, allowing readers to dig deeper into the narrative.

This notion takes the spotlight in his interesting book, “The Good News According to Jesus,” which is now available in leading stores globally.

The book takes a careful yet concise way of dissecting the significance of Jesus’ death, making readers grapple with several questions that would inspire and challenge them.

One of its reviews on Amazon from Dr. J. Denny Weaver, Professor of Religion at Bluffton University, says Donald Blosser takes readers for a walk with Jesus and allows Jesus to speak for himself.

“What we hear is a message of hope that stands in striking contrast to the current popular Christian message that tells us Jesus came to die on the cross,” says Dr. Weaver, also the author of “The Nonviolent Atonement” and “The Nonviolent God.”

Dr. Weaver says this message of New Life is important news and needs to be heard by everyone who is serious about following Jesus.

On the other hand, another review on the e-commerce platform praised Don for an “amazing job in moving the needle on our beliefs about Jesus’ death and resurrection.”

“In a fresh and accessible way, he carefully insists that Jesus’ death was not ordered to appease God’s wrath, but instead as Jesus’ righteous response to evil and human sins,” says Dr. Linda Mercandante, Ph.D. (Rev), Distinguished Research Professor Theology & Culture, Methodist Theological School in Ohio

Dr. Linda says this interpretation may shake some people, but it will be warmly welcomed by the many others who have gotten stuck on an inherited substitutionary atonement theory which seems to deny the loving character of God.

Rev. Don Blosser is a Mennonite Minister, having served pastorates in Indiana, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

He is a graduate of Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana, and holds a Ph.D. in New Testament from St. Andrews University in Scotland.

He was a Professor of New Testament at Goshen College for 22 years. He and his wife Carolyn currently live in Goshen, Indiana.
