Boston Children’s Hospital Launches Virtual Toy Drive Program

--News Direct--

Boston Children’s Hospital is gearing up for the holidays with a Virtual Toy Drive that will run now through December to raise funds for the purchase of toys and games for children at the hospital. While the pandemic has limited the ability to collect toys from the community, funds raised through the Virtual Toy Drive Program will help hospital staff safely purchase toys for young patients who have to spend the holiday season at Boston Children’s.

“The holidays can be joyful, but also stressful, especially when you have a child in the hospital,” said Beth Donegan Driscoll, Director of Child Life Services at Boston Children’s Hospital. “The Virtual Toy Drive Program allows us to purchase toys and gifts that will provide a moment of surprise and excitement during the holiday season. Funding also helps us stock playrooms with toys, games and crafts so we can inspire moments of joy on a daily basis.”

This is the second year the hospital has conducted the toy drive virtually. The fundraiser allows the hospital to purchase a variety of gifts for patients of all ages. Parents and caregivers can then choose gifts that best fit their child. Donations from the program will also be used for urgent needs of patient families and the hospital—especially during the holiday season.
