NHU launched its Healthy Mind – EAP Training Project

For employees, workplace challenges, stuck points, and mood swings can all be stressors in life and work.

NHU has always been placing considerable value on the development of workforce and talent pipeline. In order to care and serve more for our people and improve their health and wellbeing, we have set up an employee counselling team to facilitate their sound and sustainable development. The team provides timely intervention to support our employees to cope with challenges in mental health, emotion management, interpersonal communication, emergency response, and other life or work-related issues.

The effectiveness of the employee counselling team decides how well we serve for our employees. To improve the capabilities and skills of the employee counsellors in relevant areas such as empathy, communication, and keen awareness of others’ feeling, NHU launched its Healthy Mind - EAP Training Project on May 14 with the participation of 100 counsellors of the employee counselling team.

EAP (Employee Assistance Program) is designed to care for employees’ mental health. It has been identified as a key topic in the 14th Five-year Plan of the National Health Commission in 2021 and is being promoted across the country. Through employee counselling and workplace analysis, EAP assists HR to harmonize employee relations and help employees to resolve problems that may adversely affect their job performance, thereby enhancing the rapport of the company.

In the first session of the training project, Shi Jingjing, Deputy Director of the CPC-Community Work Department of the Group introduced the training plan for the employee counselling team; Chen Ying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinchang Middle School and Vice President of Xinchang Mental Health Association made a presentation themed at Becoming a Supportive Mental Health Counsellor.

It was an interactive session well participated by our zealous employee counsellors.

As an important lever to enhance corporate culture and unite employees, the EAP Training Project aims at capitalizing the strong teaching resources of Xinchang Mental Health Association to carry out trainings about mental health, emotion management, communication skills, etc., customizing a series of training courses for NHU, and building an employee counselling team with counsellors who have knowledge about psychology, excel in communication, and tailor services for the workforce.

Unity is strength. Together, we will thrive. NHU regards talent as the most valuable asset and integrates the idea of Workplace Rapport and Elevating Employees into our daily operation. We talk to (or visit if necessary) employees whenever they encounter personal problems in work or life, conduct health check-ups and mental health lectures, and set up mutual support groups. We aim at caring for employees in an all-round way and making them feel happy, belonged, and secured with us, so that we can build up workforce cohesion and strength to promote the steady development of the company.
