The company behind BUBBLE WRAP is now powering 98% of its Madera, California manufacturing facility with a solar+storage project.
Sealed Air invested $9 million in the project, which is located on 11 acres of company-owned land adjacent to the manufacturing facility. The project features 3.5 MW of ground-mounted solar capacity and a 770 kW/3,080 kWh Tesla battery storage system.
SEE chief operating officer Emile Chammas said the renewable energy project lessens "the energy intensity of operations," while contributing to the company's sustainability goals.

The project also represents the first TotalEnergies commercial and industrial project in the U.S. since acquiring SunPower Commercial and Industrial Solutions earlier this year for $250 million. TotalEnergies is the majority shareholder of SunPower.
TotalEnergies' distributed generation business boasts around 500 MW of capacity in operation worldwide. The energy giant aims to develop over 100 MW of capacity annually and is targeting 4 GW of solar capacity by 2025 in the U.S.
SunPower has instead narrowed its focus to the residential sector.
