Workshop for Teachers of UAE Chinese Language Teaching “100 Schools Project” Successfully Held

On October 8th, Workshop for Teachers of UAE Chinese Language Teaching "100 Schools Project" was successfully held in Abu Dhabi. A group of Chinese language experts, dispatched by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), organized seminars for a total of 51 teachers from five emirates, with four thematic categories covering kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and high school.

Nine teachers of different school age groups in each emirate shared their experiences in teaching practice on themes such as "Designing Teaching Activities based on Children's Psychological Characteristics", "Analysis of Teaching Materials at Elementary School Level", "Strategies for Organizing and Managing Localized Secondary School Classes", and "Tiered Teaching Methods in Chinese Language Education". The participating teachers exchanged questions and discussed their concerns. The workshop lasted for more than 3 hours, everyone being excited and enthusiastic.

The participating teachers agreed that the workshop was closely related to the actual situation of Chinese language teaching in the UAE, with both theoretical exploration and case references, which was very inspiring and beneficial to the innovation of teaching methods, improvement of teaching materials and refinement of teaching skills. It is expected that the expert group will continue to organize similar exchanges and seminars, so as to form a good atmosphere for teaching and integrated development, and promote the high-quality development of international Chinese language education in the UAE and the Arab region.

The workshop was the first offline large-scale sharing and exchange activity for UAE Chinese language teachers since the epidemic, and the event was strongly supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in the United Arab Emirates and the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE) in the United Arab Emirates.

The "100 Schools Project" is a Chinese language teaching program initiated by the leaders of China and the UAE. After several years of rapid development, there are now 158 public schools in the UAE offering Chinese language courses, with 54,000 students learning Chinese, achieving full coverage of students at all school ages from kindergarten to high school.
