BlueQubit and Partners Awarded $1.5M in DOE Genesis Mission Grants to Advance AI-Driven Quantum Error Correction

Partnering with Microsoft, top national laboratories, and leading universities, BlueQubit will deploy artificial intelligence and high-performance simulation to solve fundamental scaling bottlenecks in quantum computing.

BlueQubit, a quantum applications and software company, and partners received U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Genesis Mission grants totaling $1.5 million to accelerate the development of fault-tolerant quantum computing systems.

Through collaborations with Microsoft, Argonne National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, UC San Diego, UC Riverside, University of Maryland, University of Southern California, and Virginia Tech, BlueQubit will apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to tackle the primary hurdles standing in the way of application-scale quantum processing: physical qubit overhead and real-time decoding latency.

The joint initiatives bring together cutting-edge AI techniques with high-performance quantum simulation to redesign quantum error correction from the ground up. By using AI to create smarter error-correction codes and ultra-fast decoding models, the research teams aim to solve the critical noise and stability issues currently limiting quantum hardware.

Combining AI-driven code optimization with physics-informed decoder models creates a pathway toward more reliable, scalable, and commercially relevant quantum processors. Overcoming these foundational error hurdles is the essential step toward practical quantum advantage, transforming quantum computing from an experimental technology into an economically viable engine that accelerates enterprise adoption across high-impact industries such as pharmaceutical development, advanced materials engineering, defense, and financial risk modeling.
