AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE: AN) today reported second quarter 2026 revenue of $6.9 billion, a decrease of 1% compared to the same period a year ago. Second quarter 2026 EPS was $5.39, compared to $2.26 a year ago, and second quarter 2026 Adjusted EPS was $5.56, compared to $5.46 a year ago. Reconciliations of non-GAAP financial measures are included in the attached financial tables.
“We are pleased to report another quarter of strong performance, including record profit in After-Sales and continued strength in Customer Financial Services,” said Mike Manley, Chief Executive Officer of AutoNation. “Cash flow was strong, and we deployed significant capital for share repurchases and acquisitions to improve density in existing markets. AutoNation Finance continued to scale, growing the portfolio to $2.7 billion while substantially improving profitability. Capital Allocation, Liquidity, and Leverage
For the first six months ended June 30, 2026, cash used in operating activities was $48.9 million, auto loans receivable, net, increased $493.6 million, capital expenditures were $126.0 million, and adjusted free cash flow was $439.2 million, or 125% of adjusted net income.
In June 2026, AutoNation acquired a Toyota dealership in the Atlanta area and three Premium Luxury stores in the San Francisco Bay area adding scale and density to these key markets. These acquisitions represent approximately $600 million in annual revenue and 9,700 retail new and used vehicle annual unit sales.
During the first half of 2026, AutoNation repurchased 2.3 million shares for an aggregate purchase price of $457 million or $200.59 per share. Year-to-date through July 29, 2026, AutoNation repurchased 2.3 million shares for an aggregate purchase price of $470 million or $200.46 per share.
As of June 30, 2026, AutoNation had $1.0 billion of liquidity, including $53 million in cash and $0.9 billion of availability under its revolving credit facility, net of commercial paper borrowings. The Company’s covenant leverage ratio was 2.8X at quarter-end (2.7X net of cash), and the Company had $4.4 billion of non-vehicle debt outstanding.
