Vitesse gives enterprise finance and procurement teams one master vendor for fragmented, employee-driven purchasing, combining vendor vetting, onboarding, payments, compliance controls, analytics, and expanding sourcing options within a controlled tail spend management workflow.

-- Simfoni has launched Vitesse, an enterprise tail spend management solution designed to help finance and procurement teams manage the thousands of small, employee-driven purchases that often sit outside strategic sourcing programs. Vitesse provides a single master vendor and controlled purchasing channel intended to reduce supplier administration, improve compliance, and bring more tail spend under management.

Tail spend typically consists of large volumes of relatively low-value transactions distributed across numerous suppliers, departments, and locations. Although individual purchases may be small, collectively they can create significant administrative work for procurement and accounts payable teams. Fragmented supplier relationships can also make purchases more difficult to monitor, reconcile, and align with established procurement policies.

Vitesse applies more than 10 years of Simfoni's tail spend management experience through its One Vendor operating model. Instead of requiring enterprises to onboard and maintain relationships with thousands of small suppliers, Vitesse becomes the master vendor through which participating employee purchases are routed. Vitesse then manages the underlying supplier relationships, vendor checks, invoicing, and payments.

Before a payment is completed, Vitesse vets the vendor and purchase details against configurable controls. The process can include e-invoicing checks and real-time sanctions screening, helping procurement and finance teams apply greater consistency to purchases that may otherwise occur outside established procurement workflows.

Supplier onboarding is also consolidated through the platform. Vitesse handles vendor setup, documentation, invoicing, and payment administration, reducing typical supplier onboarding timelines from several weeks to between one and three business days. This allows employees to work with new suppliers while reducing the administrative burden associated with creating and maintaining large volumes of low-value vendor records.

The One Vendor model also changes how accounts payable teams process tail spend. Rather than managing invoices and payments across numerous suppliers, finance makes a single payment to Vitesse. Vitesse manages downstream vendor payments, taxes, tariffs, and reconciliation. According to Simfoni, this approach can reduce accounts payable workload by an average of 70 percent, while maintaining a traceable, audit-ready record for each transaction.

Vitesse also provides procurement teams with visibility into purchasing activity as transactions flow through the platform. Purchases are automatically classified across more than 200 procurement categories, enabling teams to identify what employees are buying, which suppliers are being used, where spend is occurring, and where preferred suppliers or sourcing opportunities may be applicable.

"Visibility into tail spend is not the hard part. Acting on thousands of small transactions is the hard part," said Gonzague de Thieulloy, Managing Director at Simfoni. “Vitesse is designed to address that operational challenge by placing supplier management, compliance checks, payment administration, and purchasing data within a single controlled process.”

Once purchases are flowing through the One Vendor model, organizations can extend their tail spend program through additional Vitesse capabilities. Catalogs provide employees with access to pre-approved suppliers for frequently purchased products and services, supporting repeat purchasing through an established channel.

For purchases where competition may create additional value, Vitesse Self-Sourcing and BuyDesk provide further options. Self-Sourcing uses AI-guided workflows to help employees define purchasing requirements and introduce competition into transactions that might otherwise be placed directly with a supplier. BuyDesk provides purchasing support for more complex or difficult-to-source requirements by identifying suppliers, collecting quotes, and coordinating the transaction.

These capabilities allow organizations to expand the amount of tail spend under management as purchasing patterns become clearer. Recurring requirements can move toward catalogs or preferred vendors, suitable purchases can be opened to competitive sourcing, and more complex requirements can receive additional purchasing support without creating separate procurement processes for each transaction type.

Vitesse is intended for complex and decentralized enterprises where procurement and finance teams need to manage fragmented purchasing across a large supplier base. By consolidating vendor relationships, purchasing controls, payment administration, and transaction data, the solution provides a structured approach to an area of spend that traditional category management and strategic sourcing programs may not consistently reach.
