New Reviews Released On Snoring Mouthpieces

The Snoring Mouthpiece Review is pleased to announce the release of two new blog posts discussing the effects and dangers of snoring on both the snorer and the people around them. The reviewer looks over a variety of snoring mouthpieces and reports their findings to help those tired of enduring the loud snoring of their partners every night.

A snoring partner is one of the most common complaints and it may, according to The Snoring Mouthpiece Review’s article, be something worth worrying about. “Snoring causes trouble for couples. It’s not just the snorer who is in danger, so is the partner,” says the article. According to certain studies, for example, sleeping with a snoring partner may shorten the other partner’s life. The article continues, “It’s true that sleeping with a snorer can take a toll on your health. People who sleep next to snorers report high levels of fatigue and sleepiness, and may even be at higher risk for hearing loss.”

The sound of loud snoring not only keeps the snorer’s partner awake but also deafens both. The average snore is roughly 40 decibels, which is similar to the level of noise one would hear in a library. This is more than enough to wake most light sleepers and prevent them falling asleep again. However, loud snorers can be as reach 111.6 decibels. The article notes that this is, “louder than a jackhammer, a subway train, a hand drill, power mower, snowmobile, motorcycle, and a power saw—and just eight decibels lower than the sound produced by a low-flying jet plane.” This is more than loud enough to damage the hearing of anyone who regularly sleeps nearby.

Studies show that such loud snoring can cause heavy internal vibration in the inner ear, intense enough to cause damage to the snorer’s own hearing as well. Furthermore, the partners of loud snorers tend to be more likely to develop partial deafness in the ear that faces their snoring partner. “It’s not just your sense of hearing that’s endangered. You see, a snoring partner shortens your life because you don’t get any sleep at all,” says The Snoring Mouthpiece Review.

Snoring is often caused by obstructive sleep apnea, leading to regular night-time awakenings that are further linked to a number of health problems. Lack of sleep causes eye bags, high levels of fatigue and drowsiness. It affects one’s ability to work or learn, and can affect the sufferer’s mood, memory and health in a number of ways. Their second article, titled ‘Dangers of Snoring Everybody Should Be Aware Of,’ further expands on the many ways in which snoring affects both the snorer and their partner. “Given the fact that there’s some turbulent airflow that causes snoring, it’s really not enough to just acknowledge it. Snoring should be treated as soon as possible,” reads the article. “People who snore—and the partners who must listen to their snoring at night—usually have no problem acknowledging that snoring is disruptive and uncomfortable. But most don’t look for actual treatment for their snoring, particularly if it is not accompanied by obstructive sleep apnea, a serious sleep disorder that is characterized by interruptions to breathing during sleep.”

Whether or not the snoring is caused by sleep apnea, it is a very real health concern. Snoring is a sign of disrupted sleep and can lead to many health problems. New research even suggests that it may increase the snorer’s risk of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Epstein, from the Sleep Clinic at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s hospital, points out that, “Apnea is a risk factor for the development of high blood pressure, and high blood pressure tends to lead to cardiovascular disease.”

In addition to their informative articles, Snoring Mouthpiece reviews snoring mouthpieces. With the wide variety of mouthpieces currently available on the market, a site which offers reviews of mouthpieces and anti-snoring devices is a welcome resource. They carry out research to determine how best to mitigate the potential damage caused by snoring and share that information with the world.
