Raised in the Bay Area, Dr. Longwell attended U.C. Berkeley for undergraduate school and then completed her medical school training at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in upstate New York, where she graduated with Honors. She was fortunate to continue her surgery training at Northwestern University in Chicago, and then enjoyed her residency in dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also trained an additional year as the Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellow.
Following her training, she attained board certification in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
While Dr. Longwell enjoys general dermatology and treats all ages of patients, she has additional training in skin cancer, and in skin cancer surgery. And while her training took her around the country, she has always known that she would return to California to pursue her professional career in medicine.
Placing a strong emphasis on compassionate and comprehensive patient care, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) and a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (FASDS).
