LOUISVILLE, KY / ACCESS Newswire / November 3, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who is proud to interview and honor Joe Simms for his distinguished contributions to residential real estate, investment properties, business leadership and community service. With 47 years of experience in the real estate industry, Mr. Simms has built a career around client relationships, professional integrity, mentorship and a commitment to helping families create long-term financial stability through property ownership.

As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors including position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence within a field are taken into account during the selection process. Mr. Simms currently serves as owner of the Joe Simms Group in Louisville, where he oversees a close-knit five-person team while continuing to work directly with buyers and sellers. His expertise encompasses residential real estate, investment properties, development properties for builders and commercial sales.

In his Marquis Who's Who interview, Mr. Simms stated that he entered real estate in 1979 after earning a bachelor's degree in economics and business administration from Western Kentucky University. He later earned an associate degree in real estate from Jefferson Community & Technical College. His first post-college job involved selling commercial cleaning products door-to-door on straight commission, an experience he describes as the "best worst job" he ever had because it taught him the importance of persistence and listening.

After obtaining his real estate license in December 1979, Mr. Simms began with Century 21 and spent two decades developing his expertise. He later joined RE/MAX before becoming a broker, owner and licensed Realtor with RE/MAX Associates of Louisville. In 2003, he co-founded his own real estate team and became a part-owner of the Louisville franchise with two partners. They operated the office until its sale in 2020, after which Mr. Simms continued leading his specialized team.

His professional accomplishments include earning the Century 21 Centurion Award, placing him among the company's top-producing agents, and induction into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame in 2003. He was named Realtor of the Year by the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors in 2008 and received the organization's Wall of Honor Award in 2009, a distinction rarely bestowed. In 2019, he was recognized as Associate of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Louisville.

Mr. Simms has also played a substantial role in industry leadership. He served as president of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors in 2007 after holding multiple terms as vice president and director. He also represented Kentucky for two years as a director of the National Association of Realtors and served on the Louisville Homebuilders Association board, eventually rising to associate vice president, the highest leadership position available to a non-builder member.

In his latest Marquis Who's Who interview, Mr. Simms emphasized that real estate has changed dramatically during his career. He says, "Back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, major changes happened roughly once every five years, and we adapted quickly. Today, everything seems to change weekly, making it overwhelming to keep up and implement new strategies." Even amid those changes, he believes the fundamentals remain the same. Successful agents must work consistently, build relationships and understand that there is no shortcut to establishing a sustainable business.

Relationship building has become particularly important to his approach. Earlier in his career, Mr. Simms focused primarily on moving from one transaction to the next. Today, he places greater emphasis on staying connected with clients after a sale and hosting appreciation events that reinforce the idea that a successful real estate relationship extends beyond the closing table.

Mentorship has also shaped Mr. Simms' professional philosophy. He credits motivational speaker Zig Ziglar as a major influence and continues to draw inspiration from mentors who encouraged him during difficult stages of his career. "During my insecure phase, I started listening to him," Mr. Simms mentioned during his Marquis Who's Who interview. "He guided me and set me on the right path because I wasn't on a good one. I owe a lot to his books and ideas, and I have them all, which is great." He believes that strong leaders should help younger professionals grow into leadership roles and emphasizes goal-setting as an essential discipline. His personal planning system uses a "wheel of life" approach, developed by Conway Stone, establishing annual goals in areas such as family, finances, education, health and spirituality.

Mr. Simms is increasingly focused on giving back to the community through financial education. He is organizing a nine-week financial program designed to help young people and couples understand budgeting, debt reduction, homeownership and long-term financial independence. The program is particularly meaningful because it will be offered through a church connected with the two-room school he attended during his childhood in Kentucky.

Family remains central to Mr. Simms' life and career. He and his wife, Rita, have been married for 47 years, and he has benefited richly from her support during a career with many ups and downs. His two daughters work alongside him in real estate, and he treasures time spent with his six grandchildren. He has even prepared books and handwritten letters for his grandchildren to receive at important milestones, ensuring that the lessons and values that influenced his own life can continue into future generations.

"Joe Simms exemplifies the caliber of experienced real estate professional and community-minded leader Marquis Who's Who is proud to chronicle," the editorial team stated. "His ability to combine nearly five decades of industry knowledge with mentorship, financial education and enduring client relationships reflects a career built on persistence, integrity and service." Through its interview and recognition of Mr. Simms, Marquis Who's Who celebrates a professional whose work continues to influence Kentucky real estate while helping families and future generations build stronger financial foundations.
