MIDLAND, TX / ACCESS Newswire / November 5, 2026 / Dark Horse Cranes LLC today announced its formal launch as a full-service crane operating company serving the Permian Basin. The company bridges institutional-grade New York financial leadership with field leadership drawn from decades of veteran Texas oilfield operations.

Following a highly successful soft-launch window that began in July 2026, Dark Horse Cranes has rapidly scaled its active fleet. The company's heavy asset lineup includes a new 2026 Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 all-terrain crane rated at 275 tons, featuring a 246-foot telescopic main boom and a 65-foot hydraulically offset bifold jib. To meet surging regional demand across energy and industrial sectors, Dark Horse plans to aggressively expand its fleet by adding three to four heavy cranes per month through 2027.

"West Texas doesn't need another crane company that shows up late and bills for it," said Peter Hungerford, Chief Executive Officer of Dark Horse Cranes. "We built Dark Horse to bring institutional-grade capital, strict financial discipline, and corporate transparency to a business that ultimately runs on trust, uptime, and safety. Our B2B clients get brand-new equipment, tier-one certified crews, and an executive team that answers the phone."

Field operations are anchored by industry veterans Wacey Stone and Dakota Presley (VPs of Operations), Vanessa Long (Operations Manager), and Tiffany Busbee (Operator Manager), who collectively bring 42 years of crane, rigging, and Permian oilfield experience to the company. Commercial business development is led by Dakota Presley and Danny Warren, executing a national growth strategy targeting energy, industrial, and major commercial construction accounts.

"Every safe lift starts with the operator in the seat," said Wacey Stone, VP of Operations. "We exclusively hire professionals who have run these complex machines in the basin for years, and we equip them with the best late-model fleet in West Texas. That combination of field expertise and asset quality is tough to beat."

To support its rapid trajectory, Dark Horse Cranes will open its new Permian Basin headquarters in Midland on December 1, 2026. The new 10,000-square-foot facility sits on 10 acres to accommodate dispatch, maintenance, safety, and operational staff. The company also maintains a corporate executive office in New York City to manage capital allocations and corporate scaling.
