Hubitat today announces the release of platform version 2.4.4, a significant platform update offering an upgrade to Matter 1.5, support for connecting Bluetooth devices to the hub, and a variety of other enhancements designed to expand compatibility and improve users’ smart homes.
With the Matter 1.5 upgrade, Hubitat Elevation now supports additional Matter device types, including robot vacuum cleaners (RVCs). Platform update 2.4.4 also adds additional Matter drivers for expanded out-of-box compatibility with many new Matter devices, including air quality sensors, buttons, and various other devices from IKEA, Meross, and other popular manufacturers.
Platform 2.4.4 also brings Bluetooth device support to the hub for the first time. This initial release supports BTHome V2 devices, with additional Bluetooth formats expected in the future. BTHome is an open standard capable of running on a variety of hardware, including both DIY and commercial devices, with Shelly products being the most widely available off-the-shelf options.
Further changes in platform 2.4.4 include additional Matter improvements for driver developers, enhancements to the existing built-in Alexa Skill, and a new Tuya integration, offering more ways to connect and control smart devices.
“This upgrade demonstrates our continued commitment to deliver new capabilities to our users,” said Stefan Dyulgerov, President of Hubitat. “Bluetooth support in particular opens the door to an entirely new protocol, augmenting our longstanding support for Z-Wave, Zigbee, and, more recently, Matter.”
Platform update 2.4.4 is available now for all current hub owners. Matter, including the new Matter upgrades, is compatible with hub models C-5 and newer. Bluetooth is supported exclusively on model C-8 Pro. Hubitat Elevation hubs are available at Hubitat.com.
