Revenue growth
Examining a company’s long-term performance can provide clues about its quality. Even a poor business can perform well for one or two quarters, but a high-quality one grows for years. Over the last five years, Encore Capital Group grew its revenue at a sluggish 3.9% compounded annual growth rate, falling short of the financials sector benchmark.

Long-term growth matters most, but within financials, a half-decade historical view may miss recent interest rate changes, market returns and industry trends. Encore Capital Group’s annualized revenue growth of 22.3% over the last two years is above its five-year trend, suggesting demand recently accelerated.
Note: Quarters not shown were determined to be outliers because they were impacted by outsized investment gains/losses that are not indicative of the recurring fundamentals of the business.
This quarter, Encore Capital Group reported year-on-year revenue growth of 18.3%, and its $544.5 million in revenue exceeded Wall Street’s consensus estimates by 16.7%.
