Cyber Command’s Gen. Timothy D. Haugh and DOD CIO John Sherman to Speak at 15th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Summit on Sep 3-6 in DC

Registration Now Open for Annual Event that Has Over 200 Speakers

General Timothy D. Haugh, United States Air Force, Commander, United States Cyber Command, Director, National Security Agency/Chief, Central Security Service, and John Sherman, CIO, Department of Defense, are confirmed to speak at the 15th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Summit being held September 3-6, 2024 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The event will explore topics related to this year’s theme: Advancing Cybersecurity in the AI Age and is expected to draw more than 2,000 attendees and over 200 speakers.

“Artificial intelligence is reshaping many of the ways we get work done. It is also presenting new challenges and threats to keeping our nation safe,” explained Thomas K. Billington, CEO and Founder, Billington CyberSecurity, a leading cyber education company for executives founded in 2010. “For the 15th year, we are convening many of the best and brightest cyber leaders to provide insights and information about protecting our country and allied partners in this rapidly changing cyber world.”

Helping provide perspective, General Haugh will participate in a fireside chat titled Cyber Command’s Role in Active Defense. The one-on-one discussion is timely as the NSA and US Cyber Command are at the forefront of securing the nation's cyber defense through an ambitious program of working with partners overseas, aggressive monitoring of adversarial cyber activity, and partnering with the private sector to protect the defense industrial base. General Haugh will lay out Cyber Command's vision on how it will leverage its growing capabilities and authorities to counter US cyber adversaries in real-time.

Sherman will also be featured at a Fireside Chat. He manages a broad portfolio of IT and cyber developments which are rapidly converging, significantly increasing DOD IT endpoints, and requiring an aggressive implementation of a DOD-wide Zero Trust framework to transform defense cybersecurity. He will discuss the DOD plan for accomplishing this, where the private sector is and can help, and the DOD plan for what is next.

Designed to address the nation’s pressing cyber needs, the four-day event includes panel discussions, breakout sessions, and fireside chats. This year’s summit will emphasize the increasing impact that artificial intelligence (AI) is having on the cyber world and includes an entire day and a breakout track with sessions that explore:

  • Gaining a better understanding of AI's impact on cybersecurity.
  • Taking a deeper look into cloud security and current issues impacting it.
  • Thinking about how to be more proactive in addressing technical risk.
  • Considering the next set of cyber risks that will likely impact the nation’s defenses.
  • Looking at better ways to protect data from breaches and insider threats,
  • Continuing to better understand the relationship between cyber and critical infrastructure.

Presented by a variety of sponsors, including Lead Underwriters: Amazon Web Services and CISCO, speakers span government, military, nonprofits, industry, and academia and discuss the most current cyber trends and issues during more than 40 thought provoking sessions. The event will also feature networking receptions and over 100 cyber-focused vendor booths.
