The Gummy Project Launches Low Sugar Gummy Products to Support Endangered Keystone Species

By: Get News
Each gummy product is in the shape of an endangered species, with every bag purchased triggering a donation to one of their conservation partners.

A keystone species is any species that is so important to its ecosystem that its removal would affect countless other life forms and ultimately threaten the ecosystem itself. A very select group of species are classified as “keystone” where the loss of any keystone species can have a significant impact on the overall health of the planet and therefore the long-term viability of humanity on this planet.

The Gummy Project’s mandate is to support endangered keystone species. From their own research, they chose start by supporting two of the most important species on our planet today, Bees and Sharks (with their first two products, the Peachy Bees and Watermelon Sharks).

Albert Einstein once said, “If the bee disappears from the surface of the Earth, man would have no more than four years left to live.” This is because bees pollinate 1 out of every 3 bites of food that we eat, yet their populations are declining rapidly.

For every bag of Peachy Bees sold, a donation is made to The Bee Conservancy, an organization based out of New York that works to restore Bee populations.

Sharks, on the other hand, have been around for over 400 million years and are considered one of the most important species in maintaining the health of ocean ecosystems.. Yet, since only 1970, global shark populations have decreased by 71%.

For every bag of Watermelon Sharks sold, a donation is made to Ocearch, an organization based out of Salt Lake City that works to restore Shark populations.

“We are incredibly proud of our product and our purpose to support endangered keystone species,” said Anthony Gindin, CoFounder & CMO at The Gummy Project.

During product development, The Gummy Project made decisions based on research. This included consumer research to select their flavors and then “on the street” taste tests to refind those flavors until receiving a 93% positive response on 79 taste tests.

“The positive response we have seen from both individual consumers and our wholesale retail customers has been incredible,” said Charlie Lamb, CEO at The Gummy Project. “People love the gummies and we are excited to get our gummies into more households while furthering our cause.”

The Gummy Project is now shipping Canada wide through their ecommerce site at ShopGummies.com, while available in select grocery stores, hotels and airlines.
