Policy vs Politics' Internship Program: Shaping the Future of Policy Research and Education!

By: PRLog

WHITEHOUSE, N.J. - May 7, 2024 - PRLog -- Policy vs Politics, a leading nonpartisan organization committed to providing fact-first policy content, proudly announces the achievements of its exceptional interns who are meaningfully contributing to the future of policy education. These interns, hailing from diverse backgrounds and driven by a shared passion for civic education, demonstrate outstanding dedication in their contributions to the organization's Policy Education Program.

Under the mentorship of seasoned political science professors and subject matter experts, the interns take on the pivotal role of researching data for the Policy Education Program. During their time as interns, not only do they research the latest policy data for students across the nation, but also find themselves learning about policy on a deeper level. This has inspired undergraduate interns like Noah Martinez, who has big dreams to serve his community through policy work.

Noah is most interested in policies regarding civil liberties, animal rights, and climate, and hopes to someday earn a Ph.D in Political Science. For his first semester with PvP, he worked closely with Dr. Nick Clark in researching and writing over a dozen policy briefs. In his second semester internship, he worked closely with Dr. William Bianco on copy editing and source verification of over sixty policy briefs.

This summer, he looks forward to utilizing his research skills as the Deputy Chief of Staff for IL House Assistant Majority Leader Natalie Manley. In reflecting on his internship, he says "The insights I gathered [at PvP] will be of great use. Spending hours researching policy topics gave me an appreciation for the expertise that is actually required to fully grasp these complex issues. I created clear yet nuanced policy briefs, and those skills can be used to communicate to constituents. Having the understanding that some of these topics really require specialized knowledge makes it harder for me to politicize policy. In my small corner, I want to be a bulwark for the position that policy options should be considered by a thorough investigation of their merits rather than ideology".

Dr. William Bianco, Professor of Political Science at Indiana University and Research Director for Policy vs Politics, is proud to mentor interns like Noah. He stated, "We were very lucky to have Noah Martinez on our team. He and the other interns are instrumental in advancing our mission of fostering informed and engaged Americans. I have no doubt that he will excel in his new job in the Illinois House"

Through the Internship Program and Policy Education Program, Policy vs Politics remains committed to providing free, accessible, and fact-based resources to educators and students across the country. By harnessing the talent and dedication of its interns, the organization continues to drive positive change and empower the leaders of tomorrow.
