The newest book from the man Britain's Channel4 TV calls the Einstein, Newton, Darwin, and Freud of the 21st century is about to be published, not in the USA where Bloom lives, but in France. An Interview With (The) Lucifer (Principle) will be published in Paris early in 2026 by Jardin de Livres in Paris.
Why France? The French snapped up Bloom’s first book, The Lucifer Principle: a Scientific Expedition into the Forces of History, in 1995 as a best-seller and have been reveling in Bloom’s insights ever since.
Howard Bloom started in theoretical physics and microbiology at the age of ten, helped conceive a computer that won science awards at the age of twelve, worked at the world’s largest cancer center, the Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Research Institute, at 16, and came up with a theory of the beginning, middle, and end of the universe that predicted dark energy that same year. Then, driven by the desire to study mass human emotion through the scientific lens, he chose to do his fieldwork in a territory he knew nothing about, popular culture. He founded the biggest PR firm in the music industry and worked with superstars like Prince, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Billy Joel, Queen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Styx, Hall and Oates, Simon & Garfunkel, Run DMC, and Chaka Khan. Bloom introduced innovations derived from his science, and was credited with “reinventing publicity in the music industry.”
Bloom went back to his formal science in 1988 and, since then, has published eight world-acclaimed books on cosmic and human evolution, including The God Problem, Global Brain, and his current The Case of The Sexual Cosmos: Everything You Know About Nature is Wrong.

Synthesizing that dense, teeming work, which covers the mysteries of cosmic creativity, the unfolding of sociality from the Big Bang to what’s happening in your brain as you read this sentence, and the four-billion-year evolution of intelligence, was a Herculean task. The new French Bloom book, An Interview With (The) Lucifer (Principle), is a product of a fifteen-year collaboration between Bloom and rising French philosopher Grégoire Canlorbe in which Canlorbe asks the questions and Bloom gives the answers. Canlorbe, who initiated the project and carried it through to completion, has done what Bloom calls “a brilliant job.”
Bloom shows how communication, meaning, and will—three patterns commonly thought to be just human social behaviors—arise in the first flick of the big bang among the first particles and are inherited by one of the biggest social projects those particles have ever pulled off: living beings like you and me. Bloom reveals how mass emotion—depression, elation, identity, control, power, meaning, and entertainment—appear in social creatures like bees, apes, and humans and are powerful problem-solvers. And Bloom shows how those emotions help the cosmos feel out her impossible future.
Bloom also pulls back the curtain on the astonishing ways in which the mass behavior of bees helps us see a search strategy basic to the cosmos, what evolutionary biologists call “the fission-fusion search strategy.” Bloom uses that bee search strategy to reveal the way time operates at a quantum level and the underlying forces of boom and bust. And Bloom lays out his Corollary Generator Theory—a theory that shows how the entire cosmos has been generated from a set of simple rules, rules embodied in the Big Bang. Bloom shows how you and I are the creations of those simple rules, and how we are children of the Big Bang. Which makes us cousins to stars, stones, and black holes.
Bloom also reveals how shocking the history of the cosmos would be if we were sitting at a coffee table at the edge of the nothingness before the universe began and you had predicted that a pinprick infinitely smaller than a pinprick was about to appear and blast forth three as-yet-unseen properties—time, space, and speed.
This is a book of mind-jolting truths. No wonder An Interview With (The) Lucifer (Principle)has been called exhilarating. No wonder it has been called uplifting. No wonder it hits with the jolt of your first strong cup of coffee in the morning.
