Edwards will spearhead the firm’s platform investment strategy in the utility services sector, where Red Arts has developed a longstanding investment thesis. Edwards will seek to partner with firms and management teams supporting the expansion of the national electrical grid and modernizing aging U.S. infrastructure.

Edwards brings extensive industry experience to the role. She is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of INTREN, a subsidiary of MasTec (NYSE: MTZ), a $14B Fortune 500 utility infrastructure company. Edwards is also the former Chief Strategy Officer of MasTec where she led the evolution of the power delivery segment.

“Sherina has led remarkable growth across both private and public companies in utility and energy supply chains,” said Nick Antoine, Co-CEO and Managing Partner of Red Arts Capital. “Her extensive regulatory, legal, and executive experience will be essential as we continue to address the evolving needs of our investors, portfolio companies, and other key stakeholders.”

Before her tenure at INTREN, Edwards worked as an energy and utilities regulatory Partner at Quarles & Brady and served a five-year term on the Illinois Commerce Commission. She was appointed in 2016 by President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx as Co-Chair of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Voluntary Information-Sharing System Working Group, where she provided recommendations to the Secretary on the protection of sensitive and proprietary information. Edwards is currently a board member of Nexus Water Group, Midland States Bank, Northwestern Energy, and is on the Board of Trustees of Spelman College.

“Red Arts’ commitment to modernizing and strengthening the state of infrastructure supply chains in the U.S. is a mission that deeply resonates with me,” said Edwards. “As the firm continues to expand its impact, I’m excited to help identify and support businesses tackling the largest problems in this sector.”

Edwards earned her J.D. from Howard University School of Law and is a cum laude graduate of Spelman College where she received her B.A. in Psychology.
