Impulse, the startup building next gen battery-powered appliances for the modern electrified home, today announced it has been tested to UL 858 standard and received its certification from MET for its flagship product, marking the first and only time a battery-integrated appliance has met the rigorous safety standards set by Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

This certification is a historic first for the category and sets the stage for widespread adoption of battery-integrated appliances. By working closely with nationally recognized test labs to establish safety protocols for this entirely new class of hardware, Impulse has not only cleared a critical regulatory hurdle—it has defined the path forward for others.

Jason Fisher, a voting member of two National Electrical Code-making panels and multiple UL Technical Committees, explains: “Listing and testing to a consensus standard offers critical assurance—to consumers and first responders, including firefighters—that these devices are safe to install and operate.”
