Black & Veatch today announced it has promoted Katie Werner to president of the company’s Bird Electric subsidiary, a self-perform electrical construction services provider to electric utility clients. Bird Electric has national reach in emergency power restoration, a key area of growth for Black & Veatch, and increasingly critical across major markets in the U.S.

In her new role, Werner will be responsible for advancing electric infrastructure solutions that support electric utility and oil and gas clients’ reliability, resiliency and storm restoration efforts. Werner brings more than two decades of industry experience, including extensive operational, project management and engineering expertise. Most recently, Werner led complex electric and infrastructure programs for public-sector clients across North America.

Werner holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Mississippi. She is active in industry and community organizations and is widely recognized for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to employee-owners.
