LONG BEACH, Calif. - August 25, 2025 - Tracy Markley, the award-winning fitness trainer, today announced the release of her latest book, Balance Walking and Fall Prevention – A Fitness Trainer’s Guide for Seniors and Pre-Seniors. The book offers guidance on preventing falls using easy-to-understand muscle illustrations and practical exercises. Readers will learn to strengthen the muscles used for balance and walking, as well as improve their spatial awareness and proprioception—the sense that enables people to perceive the position and movement of their body parts in space as well as the items in their surroundings. This is essential for everyday activities and foot placement while taking safe steps and clearing items on the ground when you are walking. The book will become available on Amazon starting August 26.
“This book is for people who are interested in maintaining, strengthening, and/or improving their balance and walking abilities,” explained Markley. “Educators, fitness professionals, and other practitioners who are working with these client challenges may also find the book to be useful in their work.”
Balance, Walking, and Fall Prevention offers readers a straightforward path to understanding topics such as feeling safe while walking, the essentials of better posture, how the hips and legs work, and how they malfunction, as well as mobility and stabilization. Individuals experiencing balance-related problems due to weakness and/or the effects of aging can learn to regain and strengthen their spatial awareness. This can improve their walking gaits. Markley emphasizes the importance of brain care in this process. She also highlights the role that hearing loss and vision challenges can play in balance issues and what can be done to address the problem.
The book is relevant to those who care for the elderly. A fall poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of older individuals. It takes longer for a fracture to heal in an aging body, resulting in less mobility, balance problems, and the inability to live independently. For these reasons, avoiding falls should be a top priority for older adults and their caregivers.
Markley is an Award-winning Personal Trainer, educator, and author. She is the author of 16 books. Two of these books are children's books. In November 2017, she published her first book, The Stroke of an Artist, The Journey of a Fitness Trainer and a Stroke Survivor. An inspiring journey of a stroke survivor. Since then, she has become an award-winning author, receiving thirty-one book awards.
