DewPoint Duo, HCD5000, and WDP5000 analyzers extend ZEGAZ’s footprint in two of the most demanding applications for hydrocarbon and moisture dew point measurement: corrosive offshore production environments and high-moisture renewable biogas facilities.

-- ZEGAZ Instruments, the Maryland-based developer of CEIRS natural gas dew point analyzers, today confirmed a series of new international installations across Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) offshore platforms and biogas production facilities.

The deployments span three product lines, the DewPoint Duo, HCD5000, and WDP5000, expanding the company’s presence in operating environments where gas quality analysis is particularly challenging. Recent installations include critical FPSO vessels and rapidly expanding biogas upgrading plants, where dew point accuracy directly affects gas quality compliance, BTU billing, and downstream equipment protection.

Traditional moisture and hydrocarbon dew point analyzers, including chilled-mirror systems, tunable diode laser analyzers, and oxide-based sensors, often experience accelerated degradation under these operating conditions. The CEIRS platform was developed specifically with these environments in mind.

A pattern of adoption in the hardest gas-measurement applications

"These new installations demonstrate the clear advantages of our analyzers for the detection of hydrocarbon and moisture dew points in natural gas," said Maryam Zavar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ZEGAZ Instruments. "The growing adoption of our technology reflects the value our products bring to demanding applications, particularly FPSO offshore installations and biogas facilities."

Why FPSO and biogas environments break legacy dew point analyzers

FPSO topsides are exposed to salt fog, H2S, glycol carryover, and continuous platform vibration. Biogas facilities operate with siloxanes, high moisture levels, and CO2 concentrations significantly higher than those typically seen in pipeline gas.

These conditions accelerate many of the failure mechanisms that a conventional hydrocarbon dewpoint analyser or moisture analyzer for natural gas was not originally designed to handle, including mirror fouling, sensor drift, optical degradation, and inaccurate BTU calculations.

"The corrosive environment of FPSOs, nearshore, and biogas installations poses particular challenges for natural gas analyzers," said Angelo Delarosa, Director of Technical Operations at ZEGAZ Instruments. "Our products are specifically designed to withstand these conditions, including sour gas service. The CEIRS technology used in our analyzers has become a preferred solution for these applications."

CEIRS: built for sour, wet, and remote service

ZEGAZ’s patented Chilled Evanescent Infrared Spectroscopy (CEIRS) technology measures hydrocarbon dew point and water dew point directly in the gas stream, identifies condensate type through its infrared signature, and operates without consumables, carrier gas, or periodic field recalibration.

The technology platform supports three core analyzer systems:

  • DewPoint Duo: simultaneous hydrocarbon and moisture dew point measurement in a single field-mounted unit.
  • HCD5000: a hydrocarbon dew point analyzer engineered for sour gas and offshore service.
  • WDP5000: a water dew point analyzer designed for pipeline, LNG, and biogas applications.

With these new FPSO and biogas deployments, ZEGAZ Instruments’ installed base now spans six continents. The company’s global footprint includes established field installations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, the United Kingdom, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Greece, Turkey, Iraq, Oman, Pakistan, India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, and Gabon. ZEGAZ continues to expand the application range of CEIRS technology across offshore natural gas measurement and renewable gas quality control.
