UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / February 24, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who honors Srisa Changolkar for expertise in weather derivatives. As a quantitative trader at Jane Street, Mr. Changolkar leads the weather derivatives trading desk and develops models to quantify financial exposure linked to meteorological conditions. He supports companies seeking to understand the economic impact of weather volatility amid shifting climate patterns.

A New Approach to Catastrophe Risk Protection
One field gaining momentum is catastrophe risk hedging. "It means that a state or a city can hedge its risk against something like a hurricane, large-scale wildfires or earthquakes with financial companies," Mr. Changolkar says. This emerging sector relies on contracts that outline probability and cost structures for large-scale events. The approach enables governments and organizations to protect themselves financially while giving financial firms a clear framework for evaluating risk.
"There's no financial contract that helps large-scale companies and cities, countries hedge their risk to things like this," Mr. Changolkar says. "And so, it's almost like a unique, specialized profession." Mr. Changolkar, who is also a seat holder at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, helps price these agreements for institutional clients.
Entrepreneurial Work Built Around Public Needs
Before joining Jane Street, Mr. Changolkar founded PillBot Inc. in 2018. The project arose after he witnessed a close family friend become dependent on pain medication following an accident during the height of the opioid epidemic. While participating in PennApps, a college student-run hackathon for budding engineers, he helped develop a smart pill dispenser that tracked medication use and alerted patients about dosages.
The tool aimed to reinforce adherence to prescriptions and flag erratic behavior that could lead to addiction. Over time, the platform incorporated machine-learning tools to identify early signs of addiction risk. PillBot garnered news coverage for its focus on harm reduction and for exemplifying the applicability of data analytics to public health issues.
Broad Academic and Professional Growth
"I like trying a lot of different things," Mr. Changolkar says. This curiosity led him to complete four degrees in four years at the University of Pennsylvania. First, he earned bachelor's degrees in management and technology, finance and statistics, and computer science. Then, he earned a master's degree in mathematics.
Additional professional milestones mark Mr. Changolkar's early experience. In 2020, he completed an internship at Amazon Web Services and won the Credit Suisse Stock Pitch Competition. He has worked in private equity at OceanSound Partners and held product management and data roles at Dorothy. His career also includes prior internships at OTG Management, where he focused on software development and data analysis.
Service Grounded in Pro Bono Efforts
"Success is never really an individual thing," Mr. Changolkar says. "It comes from finding the right people to work with who are also motivated." He also credits his achievements to the perspective he gained while attending Philadelphia Public Schools. The environment exposed him to diverse viewpoints and encouraged him to seek ways to make a positive impact in his community and career.
Mr. Changolkar's service and research efforts include pro bono consulting and volunteer work on COVID-19. His studies examined how vaccination clinics could allocate resources efficiently. He has written and published research modeling these clinics as stochastic systems to inform optimal placement strategies.
Market Trends Inspire the Work Ahead
Mr. Changolkar plans to continue expanding the practical applications of his academic research. In finance, he sees strong growth opportunities in emerging markets and plans to help companies better manage weather-related financial risks. "Once this industry grows, once I feel like my own personal contributions to it are going to flow, I'll probably look for another area where I can uniquely add value," he says.
