Jackson, MS - Lobaki today announced the completion and full deployment of 14 immersive virtual reality chemistry experiences developed in support of a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), in partnership with Alcorn State University and a second HBCU partner institution (official Alcorn State press release).
Lobaki designed and developed the full suite of experiences from the ground up, creating immersive virtual environments that enable undergraduate students to interact with three-dimensional molecular structures, simulate real-time chemical reactions, and explore complex scientific concepts that are difficult or impossible to replicate in a traditional classroom or physical laboratory setting.
The 14 completed experiences are organized across three learning phases: Foundations, Atomic and Molecular Theory, and Experimental Chemistry Labs, spanning the full arc of an undergraduate chemistry curriculum from lab safety basics to advanced quantum theory. The modules are engineered to be intuitive, repeatable, and deeply engaging for students at every level of prior STEM exposure.

The completion of all 14 experiences: including Molecular Shape and VSEPR, Mixture Separation, Ionic Solubility, and Chemical Nomenclature, marks the close of the full development scope and delivers on Lobaki's commitment to a comprehensive, curriculum-aligned VR learning library.
"Alcorn State is leading the way in reimagining STEM education, and we're proud to support that vision. This partnership represents Mississippi institutions working together to ensure students, especially those in rural and underserved communities, have access to the same innovative learning tools as anyone in the country. That's what Lobaki is all about." — Yuan Nichols, VR Education Consultant, Lobaki
"While this content was designed with our partners' curriculum goals in mind, we strongly believe this bundle of experiences has the power to make chemistry education more engaging and accessible to students across the country. When students can step inside a molecule or watch a chemical reaction unfold around them, it changes everything about how they understand and retain that knowledge." — Zack Davenport, Director of Production, Lobaki.
"The three-year initiative, titled Targeted Infusion Project: Elevate Learning with Interactive Technology Enhancements (ELITE) in STEM,' is designed to modernize STEM curriculum, increase student success and retention, and expand access to innovative teaching method, goals that align directly with Lobaki's core mission."
Under the terms of the NSF grant, all 14 experiences developed through this partnership will be published under a Creative Commons license, making them freely available to schools and institutions nationwide at no charge with the purchase of VR headsets.
This partnership represents a significant milestone in Lobaki's ongoing commitment to expanding immersive education technology within HBCU institutions and underserved communities. The collaboration between Lobaki, Alcorn State University, and a second HBCU partner institution demonstrates how homegrown innovation can address educational challenges in rural and remote communities and is designed to serve as a model for technology-enhanced learning that can be replicated at institutions across the country.
