FLORENCE, SC / ACCESS Newswire / November 3, 2026 / Wilson High School is celebrating 160 years of Tiger Excellence in the 2026-2027 school year, honoring a legacy of tradition, perseverance and community pride.

Originally founded by the Freedmen's Bureau, Wilson has grown to become more than just a place to learn. For generations, it has been a place where friendships begin, traditions take root, teachers make a lasting difference, and generations of families make memories that stay with them long after graduation.

In celebration of this momentous anniversary, Florence 1 Schools released a special video celebrating the rich history of Wilson and the lasting impact it has had on the Florence community.

The video features interviews with current and former administrators, teachers and students who share their own special memories and perspectives of the important role Wilson has played in shaping their own story and journey. The celebratory video also brings to life archival footage, allowing current and former Tigers to experience celebrations like Homecoming from many years ago.

As Wilson marks 160 years of excellence, the anniversary serves as a tribute to the generations who have shaped the school's legacy and the students, educators and families who continue to carry its traditions forward.
