Vantor Awarded Contract Worth up to $217M to Power Immersive Global 3D Terrain for U.S. Army Training and Mission Rehearsal

Follow-on production award advances the Army’s One World Terrain program, delivering sub-3-meter accurate, realistic global terrain for synthetic training environments

Vantor, the leading provider of unified spatial intelligence from space to ground, has been awarded a follow-on production contract to support the U.S. Army’s One World Terrain (OWT) program, advancing the Army’s ability to train and rehearse missions using high-precision, immersive 3D terrain. The contract, which is worth up to $217 million when including option years, is structured as an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA), a flexible acquisition method that enables the Army to rapidly procure innovative technologies outside traditional federal contracting rules.

Fort Bragg training environment generated using Vantor’s 3D Vivid Terrain for the U.S. Army’s One World Terrain (OWT) program, delivering sub-3-meter accuracy to support immersive, large-scale training and mission rehearsal.

Building on more than 6 years of successful prototype work, Vantor will leverage its 3D Vivid Terrain product and advanced modeling technology to deliver accurate, ultra-realistic 3D representations of Earth. Powered by Vantor's Forge production and fusion software—which continuously ingests and fuses data from satellites and drones—Vivid Terrain represents the most precise, texture-rich digital twin of the planet available today. The resulting datasets feature sub-3-meter accuracy in all dimensions with real-world surface textures, enabling immersive simulation and mission-rehearsal environments that support both classified and commercial operations.

The OWT program serves as a cornerstone of the Army’s Synthetic Training Environment (STE), providing realistic, automatically generated global geospatial datasets for simulation-based collective training, mission rehearsal, and mission execution.

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Army’s One World Terrain program,” said Susanne Hake, Executive Vice President & General Manager, U.S. Government at Vantor. “Our team is delivering high-precision, immersive 3D terrain that enhances the Army’s ability to train, rehearse, and execute missions with confidence anywhere in the world. This award reflects Vantor’s commitment to providing trusted, innovative spatial intelligence solutions that meet the evolving needs of the U.S. Army.”

Vantor’s follow-on production effort will focus on:

  • Delivering a global synthetic environment solution to support large scale training initiatives
  • Integrating high-resolution insets, including drone-collected imagery, to enrich training areas
  • Transitioning from prototype to full production by expanding capabilities built during the first contract
  • Expanding terrain data export capabilities to support Next Generation Constructive environments

Vantor will continue to support modernization of STE programs, including both Next Generation Constructive (NGC) and Reconfigurable Virtual Collective Trainer (RVCT). These programs provide the Army’s core constructive and virtual training environments, enabling large-scale, computer-generated exercises and immersive collective training for units preparing for real-world missions.

Since 2019, Vantor, formerly known as Maxar Intelligence, has provided the foundational geospatial content for OWT. The follow-on production contract includes a base year with four option years, enabling multi-year scaling of OWT capabilities to meet Army requirements.
