The business psychologist shared his idea at the event at Hoxton Hall in September

Lee Chambers, the founder of Male Allies UK, has shared his ideas on the challenges of masculinity and what it's future may look like on the TEDx stage. In his talk, he shares elements of his story and his journey, alongside the research he has undertaken and the insights gleaned from working in gender equity and male allyship.

The event, entitled "Be True To Who You Are", focused on life experiences and lessons that the speakers navigated and how these shaped an increase in self-awareness, inner confidence and an ability to show up in life in an authentic and aligned way. Chambers took the stage alongside Ryan Hopkins, Pascalle Bergmans and Jason Greystone.

This was the third TEDx Shoreditch event, after the franchise changed ownership, with the first of the new events taking place in 2023. This was the first event to use the space at Hoxton Hall, a multi-tier Victorian theatre in the Hoxton area of Shoreditch.

On taking the stage at TEDx Shoreditch, Lee Chambers said, "It has taken a long time for me to decide to grace the TEDx stage with an idea worth sharing. But in the current time of division and fear, I felt it more important than ever to share the first part of my learnings on how we create togetherness and start to evolve masculinity for the next generation. From my perspective, if we ignore this, gaps will continue to widen, and polarisation intensify. The time for both sides working to improve gender harmony through allyship is now, and that is something worth fighting for."

The release of the talk has coincided with Chambers appearance at the Marie Claire 16 Days of Activism Power Summit, speaking on the importance of male allyship and working with boys to reduce their challenges and the continual impact of male violence against women and girls, and a session in partnership with White Ribbon UK exploring the work that Male Allies UK is doing in the gender equity space.
