AlerisLife and Five Star Senior Living Awarded Great Place to Work® Certification

Recognition Reflects Commitment to and Investment in “People First” Culture

President and CEO Jeff Leer Invited as Keynote to Discuss Employee Initiatives at Argentum’s 2024 Senior Living Executive Conference

AlerisLife Inc. today announced that it and its senior living operating division, Five Star Senior Living, have been awarded with a Great Place to Work certification by the Great Place to Work Institute.

Jeff Leer, President and Chief Executive Officer of AlerisLife, made the following statement:

“Our Great Place to Work certification reflects our efforts to foster a people first environment where every individual feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed. We believe that making AlerisLife and Five Star Senior Living a great place to work for employees will make our communities a great place to live for our residents.”

The Great Place to Work certification process involved surveying nearly 10,000 employees at AlerisLife Inc.’s corporate headquarters and across 136 Five Star Senior Living communities. The survey evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experiences on the job, including employee pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference and feeling their work has special meaning. Highlights from the survey include the following:

  • 87% of employees said that when they joined the company, they felt welcome.
  • 87% of employees felt that their work makes a difference.
  • 85% of employees felt a sense of pride when looking at their accomplishments.
  • AlerisLife scored above senior living industry benchmarks throughout the survey including measures of credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

AlerisLife’s certification as a Great Place to Work follows AlerisLife implementing strategies to ensure the well-being of all its team members. The strategies include offering benefits such as tuition reimbursement, a 401K match, free meals during each work shift, flexible pay options and financial support during times of hardship, as well as numerous opportunities for recognition.

As a result of the success of these employee initiatives, Mr. Leer has been invited by Argentum, a leading industry trade association, to deliver a keynote presentation with James Rhee, Founder of red helicopter at the 2024 Senior Living Executive Conference on April 30, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona. Their presentation will center on how employee focused initiatives have benefitted AlerisLife and Five Star Senior Living.
