The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) today announced the first-ever recipient of the PCF Women in Science Lifetime Achievement Award, Maha Hussain, MD, FACP, FASCO, the Genevieve Teuton Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Deputy Director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University (Lurie Cancer Center). Dr. Hussain will receive the award and give an honorary lecture on Friday, October 24, during the 32^nd Annual Prostate Cancer Foundation Scientific Retreat, held October 23-25, 2025, in Carlsbad, California.

Dr. Hussain is a world-renowned genitourinary oncologist who has spent her career fighting for men with lethal forms of prostate cancer—men who need hope and help the most. Her groundbreaking research, supported by several PCF awards and grants, has greatly improved the treatment and management of patients with both metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer and castration-resistant prostate cancer. A dedicated educator and mentor, she leads the Genitourinary Cancer Program at Lurie Cancer Center, where she ensures the next generation of prostate cancer researchers drive innovation with the same fierce dedication to patients and families.

Dr. Hussain has received many other honors and awards and has held impactful scientific leadership roles with professional and government organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). An author or co-author of 325 scholarly articles and book chapters, she received her medical degree from the Baghdad University College of Medicine and completed her residency and hematology-oncology fellowship at Wayne State University in Michigan.
