MSPs Eliminate the Ultimate Middleman–Themselves–With Self-Service Portal from Sherweb

Sherweb Equips MSPs with White-label Platform That Transcends What They Can Build on Their Own. Clients Can Now Move Quickly on Everyday Operational Needs.

Sherweb, the technology and service provider that gives MSPs everything they need to run and scale their offerings, has launched a white-labeled Self-Service Portal, so that MSPs can put the companies they serve in control of quick-turnaround tasks. Now, rather than rely on their MSPs to handle everyday activities, such as ordering and assigning technology licences, managing subscriptions and making payments, companies can use their portals to move quickly. For partners, Sherweb’s new portal means having a fully branded digital presence onsite at clients’ companies, customized to client’s specific needs and working on their behalf. The Self-Service Portal is now available to the nearly 8,000 MSPs Sherweb works with, at no additional charge, as part of their existing services.

Companies across industries are rushing to address emerging needs such as introducing AI-ready infrastructure, but their desire for cutting-edge innovation has not eliminated lower-level IT help tickets–it’s compounded them. As a result, the back and forth between MSPs and their clients has become a job of its own, overwhelming support teams and frustrating end users. While many MSPs have attempted to remedy this by creating their own client-facing platforms, building, managing, deploying and hosting these portals is daunting and typically doesn’t support the breadth of activities that companies are capable of taking on.

It’s against this backdrop that Sherweb has built a commercial-scale, Self-Service Portal that MSPs can deliver with their own branding and customized to each individual client’s usage parameters. As a result MSPs are giving ownership of operational needs to their clients, while freeing up bandwidth to address the high-level inquiries that directly influence businesses’ bottom lines. Through the portal, MSPS can now:

  • Automatically invoice and collect payments via PayPal for all client services. Sherweb is already keeping track of the licenses that each MSP’s clients are using. Now, through its Self-Service Portal, it aggregates these charges alongside the other products and services MSPs are delivering. At the end of each month, it transforms all of these into a digital invoice that clients can pay directly in their portals via PayPal.
  • Introduce curated catalogs with products from Sherweb’s marketplace–and beyond. MSPs offer a mix of services and technology products, and these offerings can change according to the nature of their clients’ industries and needs. In the Self-Service Portal, MSPs can curate catalogs featuring different services, products from Sherweb’s marketplace, and other products they offer so that customers can easily view and purchase everything at their convenience.
  • Enable clients to buy and manage licenses and subscriptions. Traditionally, when companies need to add new user licenses or do something as simple as add an email account, they’d have to contact their MSP. Now, MSPs no longer have to be the middleman and their customers can control their own services, subscriptions, and account settings in real time. From assigning Microsoft licenses to extending subscriptions, clients can manage routine tasks themselves.
  • Introduce helpdesk functionality via a built-in chat. Typically when companies need help from their MSP all they can do is submit a ticket and hope that the help team replies quickly. With Sherweb’s Self-Service Portal, MSPs are supplying clients with a chat function that clients can use to open and streamline support tickets for faster resolutions. The chat eliminates manual triaging, automatically submitting tickets to the correct teams, and compiling every company request in one place for better tracking and communication.

“MSPs are on the frontlines of today's technology evolution, guiding business in every industry through their digital transformations. But in order for them to power large structural overhauls they first need to minimize time spent on small - but necessary - day to day support,” said Rick Stern, Senior Director of Platform. “Giving autonomy to customers’ is a win for every party involved. Companies can turn around simple inquiries much more quickly by eliminating MSPs as a middle man in situations where they are not necessary. And with a reduction in the flood of requests, MSPs’ can address high-level concerns as well as hone in on strategic initiatives to drive revenue for both themselves and their customers.”

MSPs can integrate Sherweb’s Self-Service Portal for free. Following the initial pilot the platform is now in use by over 450 MSPs.
