A-Champs Acquires Goal Station to Advance Cognitive Training in Soccer

A-Champs, a Barcelona-based sports technology company recognized for its science-driven ROX system, has acquired Goal Station, a Danish innovator in smart soccer training environments. The acquisition brings together complementary expertise in sports science, technology, and applied coaching to create an integrated ecosystem designed to advance cognitive, technical, and physical player development.

Integrating Science, Technology, and Player Development

Modern soccer increasingly emphasizes intelligence, perception, and rapid decision-making alongside technical ability. The combined A-Champs and Goal Station system applies the Perceive–Process–Execute framework, embedding real-time decision-making into training scenarios that reflect competitive match demands. This structure supports stronger transfer of training outcomes by connecting physical actions with cognitive control and measurable improvements in Soccer IQ.

At the core of the system is A-Champs’ patented ROX technology, which delivers multisensory stimulation through coordinated light, sound, and vibration. When incorporated into Goal Station’s modular training environments, including smart rebounders, mobile solutions, and arena setups, the technology generates detailed performance data on player responses and progression. These environments support high-intensity sessions with up to 1,000 repetitions and have been associated with measurable performance gains, including up to 23% reaction times and 30% improved visual perception. The resulting datasets allow for individualized development plans tailored to age groups, positional roles, and skill levels, with performance data accessible through the A-Champs app.

Coaching Expertise and Proven Methodology

“We are very excited about this strategic move,” said Kilian Saekel, CEO of A-Champs. “We’ve worked with Goal Station for years. Now, offering the full solution under one roof, I’m proud to say we have the most advanced soccer performance training ecosystem on the planet.”

The Goal Station methodology was developed by Brian Sørensen, head coach of Everton FC Women, and is rooted in elite coaching practice and performance science. Sørensen first applied the system at Fortuna Hjørring, contributing to the club’s rise from Denmark’s second division to the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinals within two years. Twenty of the 26 players from that period advanced to top-tier clubs, and several, including Nadia Nadim and Pernille Harder, have credited the methodology as an important factor in their development. “Goal Station was built to bring science into soccer training, helping players think, decide, and act faster,” Sørensen said. “With A-Champs, we can take that vision global.”

Expanding Presence in Top-Tier Soccer

A-Champs technology is used by more than 50% of Bundesliga clubs, over 40% of Danish Superliga teams, and clubs across LaLiga, the Premier League, and Major League Soccer. The acquisition also reinforces A-Champs’ expansion in the United States, where demand for data-driven and cognitively focused training continues to grow.

Together, A-Champs and Goal Station aim to advance a global shift toward science-based, technology-enabled training environments that support intelligent player development.
