TimeTree, the global schedule sharing platform, announced that it presented the second annual 'TimeTree AI Technology Award' at the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). The ceremony was held on July 6, as part of the festival's program running through July 12.
The award was launched last year alongside BIFAN's debut of South Korea's first international AI film competition category. Now in its second edition, it recognizes films that treat artificial intelligence not as a mere production tool, but as a genuine creative collaborator—one capable of bringing a director's narrative vision and artistic intent vividly to life.
This year's honor went to Director Lim Ye-jun for the film Big Ball, praised by the jury for its striking technical achievement. Charting an unconventional cinematic path, Lim used AI with remarkable sophistication to capture the quiet expressions of everyday life and the subtle rhythms of human conversation—crafting moments that felt at once intimate and technically groundbreaking.

The theme resonated throughout BIFAN's 30th-anniversary celebrations. Its opening ceremony, featuring humanoid robots on stage, set a bold tone around "AI and the Future"—a vision that mirrors TimeTree's own technological direction and corporate mission.
That mission is already taking shape. Drawing on a repository of more than 16 billion user schedule data points, TimeTree is accelerating development of its AI-driven schedule automation services. Central to this effort is 'Calendar Twin,' a proprietary technology that analyzes individual behavioral patterns and context to proactively recommend precisely tailored schedules.
"BIFAN's forward-thinking embrace of AI and its support for emerging filmmakers resonate deeply with TimeTree's mission to build an innovative AI ecosystem," said a TimeTree spokesperson. "We remain committed to nurturing this creative synergy, and we will continue expanding our collaborative efforts across industries."
