A July 27 community event at Garden City High School, hosted by a local personal injury law firm, puts school supplies in the hands of the students who need them.
-- Patterson Legal Group will host a FREE backpack and school supplies giveaway for Garden City-area students on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Garden City High School (2720 Buffalo Way Blvd, Garden City, KS 67846). The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., or while supplies last. Attendance is free and open to all school-aged children accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.
The Garden City event is the second stop on Patterson Legal Group’s four-city July giveaway tour. The firm plans to put approximately 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies into students’ hands across Wichita, Garden City, St. Joseph, and Topeka — reinforcing its commitment to community investment beyond the courtroom.
Back-to-school spending for K–12 families averaged approximately $858 per household in 2025, according to the National Retail Federation's most recent survey — with school supplies alone accounting for roughly $144 of that total. For the families of the roughly 62,000 Kansas children living in poverty (based on recent 2024–2025 estimates), outfitting a student for the 2026 school year can create a significant financial burden to families.
