New program at Hill College campus helps Johnson County residents train for high-demand trucking careers

(PRUnderground) May 15th, 2026

Residents of Cleburne and surrounding Johnson County communities now have a new opportunity to train for careers in the trucking industry through a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program offered by ATDS Truck Driving School at the Hill College Cleburne campus.

A ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce was held to celebrate the launch of the program, which expands access to CDL training for individuals in Cleburne as well as nearby communities, including Burleson, Joshua, Keene, Alvarado and other surrounding areas.

The program allows local residents to train for a Class A CDL close to home while preparing for careers in the trucking and transportation industry. Training combines classroom instruction with hands-on driving experience designed to prepare students for real-world conditions and professional driving careers.

ATDS, which has been training professional drivers since 1982, partnered with Hill College to bring the program to the Cleburne campus and help meet the ongoing demand for qualified commercial drivers across Texas.

“Bringing CDL training to the Hill College Cleburne campus allows us to better serve students in Johnson County and nearby communities who are looking for a reliable path into the workforce,” said Rob Hunt, President of ATDS. “The trucking industry continues to offer strong career opportunities, and we’re proud to help students gain the training and connections they need to succeed.”

Classes have already begun at the Cleburne location, and ATDS is currently accepting new students. Financial aid, workforce grants and GI Bill benefits are available for those who qualify.

Students enrolled in the program receive comprehensive training that includes classroom education, range practice and behind-the-wheel driving experience. Graduates are prepared to test for their Class A CDL and begin careers in the transportation industry.

ATDS also maintains strong relationships with trucking companies throughout Texas and the region, helping connect graduates with employers actively seeking trained drivers. These industry partnerships support strong job placement opportunities for program graduates.

The partnership with Hill College provides an additional workforce training option for individuals in the Cleburne area seeking new career opportunities while remaining in their local community.
