Katie Couric Media’s “Leading with Love” Series – Part 1

SOURCE: P&G

DESCRIPTION:

When Brooke and Breanna Bennett learned that some girls miss school because they lack access to the period products they need, they decided to do something about it.

Their mother, who taught at an all-girls school, told them about how some of her students didn’t have access to period products and were forced to use things like socks and tissues. The girls were shocked. “We were like, ‘why are they doing that’,” Brooke told KCM Media.

They started WIT – Women in Training – an organization aimed at ending period poverty by providing period products to young people who cannot afford them as well as advocating for legislative change by championing other social issues to help empower young women.

Their efforts caught the attention of our Always team in 2020, who named them one of their Period Heroes, and donated 20,000 pads to help their cause. To see what else Always is doing to help end Period Poverty, click here.

At just 13, Brooke and Breanna are an inspiring example of how young people are driving real change. End Period Poverty is an example of how we’re stepping up to Lead with Love. Learn about how P&G is committed to 2,021 Acts of Good in 2021.
